The house

The first four answers are in the house's . Guess if you don't know — you can change them later.

Shown in the declaration as . It counts every heated room, including a basement and a converted loft.

The year gives typical for walls, roof, floor and windows — how much heat each part lets out.

Pick the place nearest the house. It decides how cold and how long the winter is.

The heating decides what the energy costs, and so what a saved is worth.

Everything on the electricity bill: heating, hot water, cooking, laundry and lighting. The house has one meter, so it is all in the same figure.

Optional, but it is the figure that makes the biggest difference. In July the house is barely heated, so a summer month shows what the household draws with the heating off. Your supplier lists the monthly figures. Leave it empty and we assume 30 kWh per square metre a year instead.

kWh

One, one and a half, or two. It says how large the roof is compared with the floor area.

Hot water is about 1 000 kWh per person a year, and insulating a wall does not change that part.

How we work it out

The ceiling is what you save in a year, in kronor, spread over the measure's at the . The same method as in the guide on Glossary: cost per saved kWh, backwards: instead of working the figure out from a price, we work out the price that gives the figure.

Household electricity is worked out from your own figures: from the separate electricity bill if the house has two invoices, otherwise from the summer month times twelve, less the hot water. Left empty, we assume 30 kWh per square metre a year. Two things we never ask: the discount rate is 3 per cent and the life 40 years for insulation and windows. To change them, or to see areas and U-values, there is Åtgärdskalkylen — the same calculation with everything open.

We never guess what your job costs. That is decided by access, how the house is built and how busy the contractor is. We say what such jobs usually cost, where that figure comes from, and what your own price means.
